Australians to participate in Technical and Vocational Training International Youth Forum

Hundreds of young people from across the WorldSkills community will come together in Abu Dhabi to as part of the 44th International Competition to “Think Future” about vocational education and training.

The first International TVET Youth Forum will be held from 14 to 15 October 2017 during WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017. Up to 300 young people will come together in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates to discuss the future of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Among them are two representatives from Australia, Hannah Terry (2016 Gold Medallist – Mechatronics) and Bob Sheridan-Gimmel (2016 Gold Medallist – Plumbing).

Hannah and Bob will participate in several think tanks, with topics ranging from Innovation, Industry 4.0, Entrepreneurship, Green Economy, Global Citizenship, Happiness, and Tolerance. In addition, they will carry out research, come up with ideas and discuss different opinions. The result will be a Youth Declaration, which aims to inspire all those attending WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017, but also to set the agenda for future events.

Conference to help frame the conversations that follow the Youth Forum. The work of these young people will begin several months prior the event in online forums and on social media. During the whole process they will be supported by dedicated experts and professional facilitators.

In addition, they will carry out research, come up with ideas and discuss different opinions. The result will be a Youth Declaration, which aims to inspire all those attending WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017, but also to set the agenda for future events.
