In Memoriam: John Hardy

It is with great sadness that we advise that WorldSkills Australia has lost another cherished member of our family.

John “Johnny” Hardy passed away on Monday morning at the age of 71. Everyone that knew John described him as a good-humoured, “rare gentleman” with a heart of gold. Former WorldSkills Australia Chairman Bob Puffett said that John made it his mission to provide the Regions with as much financial autonomy as possible to give them the best chance at success in his position as WorldSkills Australia’s Finance Manager (2003-2013). Indeed, the outpouring of condolences and tributes from people across the country is a testament to John’s hard work, dedication and great character. John was kind, thoughtful and well known and loved for his unfailingly positive attitude and witty sense of humour.

Vale, John Hardy. You were one in a million, and your memory will live on in the many people whose lives you touched.

–Brian Wexham, WorldSkills Australia Chair
