Message from the CEO: Volunteers are the lifeblood of WorldSkills Australia

2016 has been a whirlwind of activity, with all hands on deck preparing for the 2016 WorldSkills Australia National Competition being held in Melbourne from 6-8 October at Melbourne Showgrounds.

WorldSkills Australia has been around for 35 years and in that time 100,000 young Australians have taken part in WorldSkills events.

As I reflect on the work that has gone into this National Competition, I am once again humbled by the immense support and dedication displayed by the WorldSkills Australia family of volunteers and sponsors.  Hundreds of passionate, dedicated individuals and organisations dedicate their time, resources and expertise, providing young people across the country with valuable opportunities to challenge themselves and benchmark their skills against their peers.

At this National Competition, our volunteers act as judges, team leaders, mentors and assist with everything from providing essential materials and equipment to answering queries and giving tours throughout the three days of competition.

The amazing men and women that support WorldSkills Australia are the true champions: They are the lifeblood of our organisation.  Without them, we would not be able to achieve everything we set out to do.

It has been a pleasure working with all of you, and I look forward to joining you to celebrate your fantastic achievements at the National Competition.
