WSA signs MOU with Rotary

On Tuesday the 25th of February, Mark Callaghan CEO of WorldSkills Australia (WSA) and Garry Browne, District Governor of Rotary International District 9675, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations, reaffirming the already established and valuable partnership.

The agreement formalises ties between WSA and Rotary International District 9675 and recognises the commitment by both to work together on a number of joint programs including providing links for Rotary volunteers to assist at the 2014 WSA National Competition and opening up access for WSA competitors to join the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) program.

Another of the exciting initiatives both organisations look forward to developing is the ‘Adopt a Skillaroo’ program, which was first adopted by the Rotary Club of Wollongong for Illawarra based fitter and machinist Mathew McGlashan. Mathew represented Australia at the 42nd WorldSkills International Competition in Germany in the Manufacturing Team Challenge. The Rotary Club of Wollongong held a fundraising dinner for Mathew prior to his departure which assisted in raising funds to support his training in the lead up to the International Competition.
