Calling all emerging fashion designers! Applications for the 2017 Team Australia Uniform are officially open

Applications for the 2017 Team Australia Uniform are now open to Australia’s up and coming designer talent, with the winning prize valued at $500.

For the first time, WorldSkills Australia is opening up the design of the official Team Australia uniform to emerging designers in Australia. Think cutting-edge, professional, yet comfortable. Team Australia consists of an elite group of competitors, the Skillaroos, who have been assigned dedicated training mentors/experts to work with in the lead-up to WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017.

The winning design will be worn by Team Australia in front of more than 10,000 people at the WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 opening and closing ceremonies, broadcasted live on TV across the world, in front of government officials at the Farewell Function, meeting the Australian Ambassador in Abu Dhabi and state government presentation ceremonies upon the teams return.

WorldSkills Australia General Manager, Brigitte Collins said, “We know how important it is to collaborate with Industry and Training providers in providing opportunities, in this case young designers to kickstart their career in such a competitive market and the 2017 Team Australia Uniform is the perfect example of this opportunity.”

The judges for this competition include a host of industry experts including past WorldSkills Australia Skillaroos and national judges. This nation-wide competition is open to students, classes, and individuals with a flair for design.

Applications for the competition are now open until 5 pm AESDT Friday 31 March 2017. For more info on how to apply download the Team Australia Uniform Competition Brief here.
