Perth to host 2014 WSA National Competition

WorldSkills Australia is excited to announce that the 2014 WorldSkills Australia National Competition will be returning to Perth for the first time since 1989.

The competition will be held at Perth’s Convention and Exhibition Centre between the 18th and 20th of September.

The three day event will see over 500 of Australia’s most talented students, trainees and apprentices from 31 regions battle it out for gold medal success and the prestigious title of ‘Nation’s Best’ in their chosen skill or trade.

National competitors will get the opportunity to benchmark their skills against their peers in 50 categories, ranging from the traditional trades such as Bricklaying and Vehicle Painting to the more contemporary professions of Mechatronics and Web Design.

The National Competition will also feature WSA’s interactive Try’aSkill program, where expected visitors can try their hand at various skill and trade areas as well as seek information from skilled tradespeople and industry experts.

If eligible, medallist from next year’s National Competition may then be offered a position on the 2015 Team Australia Skillaroos, to compete as Australian representatives at the 43rd WorldSkills International Competition to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Medallists from the National Competition are also encouraged to apply for one of the many scholarship pathways associated with WorldSkills Australia.
