2013 BBM Youth Support Awards

On Monday the 18th of November, recipients of the 2013 BBM Skilled Futures program were recognised at the official BBM Youth Support Awards function held at Parliament House in Sydney. 150 guests attended the function to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of the 2013 awardees.

Every two years, BBM Youth Support funds the BBM Skilled Futures Program which provides WorldSkills Australia competitors with the opportunity to attend an intensive two-week leadership and development program with Mission Performance in the United Kingdom.

The development program saw 16 medallists from the 2012 WorldSkills Australia National Competition embark on a trip of a lifetime to the United Kingdom. On the 16th of June, these elite young apprentices and trainees departed Australia to participate in the leadership program, which included a series of challenging team activities such as a sinking ship simulator, mountain biking and trekking.

As well as participating in the challenging leadership program, recipients also were encouraged to secure an international placement within their respective industries. The international work experience not only helps enhance these young Australians career prospects but it also equips them with new knowledge and skills which will enable them to develop and advance further in their trade and industry.

WorldSkills Australia would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the recipients of the 2013 BBM Skilled Futures Program.
