VETiS Tourism

Tourism and Travel Advisers provide a variety of services to assist clients in planning and organising travel and accommodation.

Individuals working in Tourism may also be required to provide , geographical, travel and accommodation information to tourists.

The VETiS Tourism Competition is designed to test Competitors against their sales skills and sound knowledge of industry operations to coordinate Tourism services.

Training Package Requirements – Regional Level

The WorldSkills Australia Regional VETiS Tourism Competition aligns to the following Units of competency contained in the SIT30122 – Certificate III in Tourism Qualification.

Regional Competition Tasks

The VETiS Competition is designed to test the skills and knowledge required to work in a Travel and/or Tourism office. Competitors are required to display basic selling skills and have an understanding of client needs and Australian destination information.

Regional Competition Tasks

Participate in safe work practices
Provide service to customers
Provide advice on Australian destinations
Source and use information on the tourism and travel industry
Operate online information systems
Show social and cultural sensitivity
Sell tourism products and services
Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices
Provide visitor information

Regionals Competition Duration

Total competition time is 5.30 hours over 1 day not including breaks or briefing

The WorldSkills Australia National VETiS Tourism Competition aligns to the following Units of competency contained in the SIT30122 – Certificate III in Tourism Qualification.

National Competition Tasks

The National VETiS Competition is designed to test the skills and knowledge required to work in a Travel and/or Tourism office. Competitors are required to produce accurate, quality documents to meet industry standards. Some tasks are integrated and related.
