WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017
Emilia is a very creative and curious young lady with a big heart.
It was her Nonna who inspired her to follow the restaurant path as she imbued her with a passion and appreciation of food and the restaurant industry.
“The aspects I enjoy most about my job are being able to talk to customers as well as the fact that there is always something new to learn.”
Emilia has a great attitude towards her trade. “Like anything, you have good days and bad days, ups and downs. But seeing yourself grow, learn and develop your skills/trade is the best feeling.”
Her win at the National Competition in 2016 was a highlight and she looks forward to continuing to build her skills and meeting new people through WorldSkills and in particular being a member of the 2017 Skillaroos.
In the future, Emilia would love to work in a chain of hotels in the USA, Italy, the UK or France.
Emilia is supported on her WorldSkills journey by Didasko Learning Resources.
Having started as a competitor, International Expert in Restaurant Service, James Sun has a clear passion for the restaurant industry and giving back to the next generation of young people.
He has chosen to continue on his WorldSkills Australia journey so he can help and provide support for future generations, to be proud of their industry and be more professionally skilled / prepared for industry.
James also enjoys mentoring and watching competitors grow with maturity over the course of being involved with WorldSkills Australia.
When speaking of his own WorldSkills Australia experience, James says over the years he has been able to grow as a person, gain a better understanding of other industries and constantly remind myself with the basic skills required for certain industry tasks.
