Michael’s path to success began early – his love of cars and his desire to follow in his father’s footsteps led him to a career in the automotive industry. He chose an apprenticeship in Autobody Repair as he was keen to gain recognition for the skills he already had acquired whilst working in his father’s panel shop.
Michael entered his regional competition and won. He was then selected to represent his region at the WorldSkills Australia National Finals held in Brisbane in May 2004.
After claiming victory in Brisbane Michael gained selection into Team Australia. Michael is a self proclaimed perfectionist and attributes his success to the support he received from his TAFE teachers, work colleagues, family and friends. Over the grueling four days of competition, Michael achieved a Certificate of Participation and was noted as one of the top 20 Autobody Repairers in the world. Now returned from Helsinki, Michael hopes to “…further my education and take up a more senior managerial position within the automotive industry.”
