Training Package Requirements – Regional Level

The WorldSkills Australia Regional Competition for Motorcycle Mechanics aligns to the Units of Competency in the AUR30820 Certificate III in Motorcycle Technology Qualification.

Regional Tasks

The Regional Competition tests the variety of skills needed from diagnostics to repair and roadworthy inspections. Competitors will be required to be thorough and check anything to do with motorcycle maintenance or safety-related components prior to carrying out any repair services. The Competition project is designed to test the Competitors skills in the following areas related to Motorcycle Mechanics:

• Carry out vehicle safety and roadworthy inspections (Light Vehicles)
• Diagnose and repair motorcycle braking systems
• Inspect and service braking systems
• Carry out diagnostic procedures
• Diagnose and repair electronic spark ignition engine management systems
• Diagnose and repair motorcycle engines
• Inspect and service engines
• Diagnose and repair motorcycle clutch systems
• Diagnose and repair charging systems

Regionals Competition Duration

The competition is completed in 5 hours over 1 day not including briefing or breaks.

Training Package Requirements – National Level

The WorldSkills Australia National Competition for Motorcycle Mechanics aligns to the Units of Competency in the AUR30820 Certificate III in Motorcycle Technology Qualification.

National Tasks

The National Competition tests the variety of skills needed from diagnostics to repair and roadworthy inspections. Competitors will need to work accurately with a range of measuring and electrical test equipment including multimeters, scan tools, battery testers, pressure gauges, micrometers, dialgauges and verniers. The competition project is designed to test the Competitors skills in the following areas related to Motorcycle Mechanics:

• Fuel injection and engine management diagnosis
• Chassis and wheel service and repair
• Service inspection and Valve clearance adjustment
• Suspension overhaul and race setup.
• Gearbox and clutch inspection.
• Starting and charging system diagnosis

Nationals Competition Duration 

The competition is completed in 18 hours over 3 days not including briefing or breaks.
