Smoothing surfaces, fitting drywall, and crafting decorative moldings for projects ranging from private residences to heritage buildings.

Plasterers apply plaster, cement and other substances to the exterior and interior of buildings. These building professionals work on both new and existing buildings, applying plaster to walls and ceilings to give interior spaces a finished look. Plasterers also repair and restore old plastering work in existing buildings. Their job may also involve the creation of interior and exterior architectural details that enhance the overall look of a building’s facade or interior space.

The WorldSkills Plastering Competition covers common skills for the construction industry, as well as the specialist field of a Plasterer. Competitors will be assigned projects that will see them apply and fix linings for non-structural walls and ceilings.

YOU SHOULD PURSUE A CAREER IN PLASTERING IF YOU:

  • Have an interest in practical, physical work
  • Have problem solving abilities
