Melbourne ShowgroundsGetting to Melbourne Showgrounds by public transport is easy, with options to hop aboard a train, tram or bus.

Melbourne’s official public transport ticketing system is myki, a plastic ‘smartcard’ with stored value that can be topped up and reused as required. Your myki card enables you to travel all of Melbourne metropolitan’s trains, trams and buses.

You can purchase a myki card online at the myki website, at premium train stations, retail outlets displaying the myki sign (including 7-Elevens), or by calling 13 6954 (13 myki) within Australia.

Tram No. 57 (Maribyrnong / Elizabeth Street, City) stops right outside the main gate at Melbourne Showgrounds (Stop No. 33). The journey from the corner of Flinders and Elizabeth Streets, Melbourne CBD takes approximately 30 minutes.

You can take a number of metropolitan buses to the venue:

  • Take Bus No. 472 (Williamstown / Moonee Ponds) to the corner of Langs and Epsom Roads and walk southeast down Epsom Road approximately 150m to the main gate.
  • Take Bus No. 404 (Footscray to Moonee Ponds) to the corner of Ascot Vale and Epsom Roads, then hop on Tram No. 57 toward Maribyrnong for a quick journey to the main gate.
