Scholarships and Pathways
There’s more to WorldSkills Australia than competitions. There are other pathways and scholarship opportunities that involve additional study, work experience, overseas travel or financial support. The aim of the programs is to further develop the skills of the many young people who participate in WorldSkills Australia events.

ABBTF world class bricklayer development scholarship
The goal of the ABBTF World Class Bricklaying Development Scholarship is to provide support for the bricklaying Skillaroo, to achieve the highest possible level of skill to successfully compete internationally.

Australian VET Alumni
WorldSkills Australia is proud to work closely with the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations who manage the Australian VET Alumni. WorldSkills Australia National Championships Gold medallists are invited to apply to become a member of the Australian VET Alumni.

Australian Overseas Foundation
Each year, the AOF provides a limited number of overseas awards to help Australians fulfil their dreams of working internationally in their chosen field. The program ultimately benefits Australian industry through the knowledge and skills that return with the award recipients. WorldSkills Australia Competitors who have completed a trade apprenticeship or vocational traineeship to Certificate Level III are encouraged to apply for the AOF scholarship.

Global Footprint Scholarships
A Global Footprints Scholarship is a great opportunity to kickstart your career and drive your passion for sustainability.
It gives young Australians the opportunity to travel the world, learn about sustainability and shape a better future for yourselves and the world.
Scholarships are available for Agriculture, Horticulture and many Trades and many WorldSkills Australia National Competitors have been recipients of this amazing opportunity.

The Ern Macdonald Fellowship
To Ern MacDonald, who has been credited with changing the face of labour relations in the Australian construction industry, nothing was more important than recognising and encouraging the development of skills in young people.

Queensland Overseas Foundation
The QOF scholarship provides recipients with the opportunity to work at the overseas destination of their choice by funding their return airfare and initial expenses.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where you develop your skills as a leader while having fun and making connections. RYLA participants are nominated by local Rotary clubs. Contact your local Rotary club to find out more about RYLA events in your area, how to apply, and any costs of getting involved.

Team Australia Skillaroos
The Skillaroos introduced by WorldSkills Australia, are part of Team Australia - National Champions are selected to represent Australia at the WorldSkills International Competition, that occurs every 2 years.

Australia Skills Excellence Forum
A two-day skills excellence forum will target competitors, and Skill Leads from around Australia who took part in the National Championships 2025 but do not have an International Pathway to WorldSkills Competition Shanghai in 2026. The purpose of the Forum is two-fold, to continue to focus on skill excellence but also provide national participants with personal development opportunities. The Australian Skills Excellence Forum is scheduled to be in March 2026 in Perth Western Australia.
