Meet the Skills Squad

A record number of female competitors have been selected to join Australia’s elite international team – the Skills Squad – after their successful performances at the recent 2016 WorldSkills Australia National Competition.

These vibrant young men and women aged 23 and under will spend the next year training with a dedicated skills mentor, vying for the opportunity to join over 1,000 young people from 75 countries at WorldSkills International Competition being held in Abu Dhabi next October.

Amongst the Skills Squad is Louise Azzopardi who, after being named Australia’s first female competitor and gold medalist in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, hopes to make history internationally as one of the first female competitors in this category.
