2013 One School One Country
On January 17th as part of CPW in Leipzig, participating Member countries of the International Competition had the privilege of meeting with representatives from their partner school as part of the One School One Country (OSOC) program. WSA has been partnered with Grundschule Dommitzsch, a primary school located in the town of Dommitzsch, 50kms north of Leipzig city. Grundschule Dommitzsch, a school of only 131 students and 10 teachers, will be celebrating their 100 year anniversary around the time of the competition.
OSOC has been in operation since 2007 when it was first implemented as part of the 39th WorldSkills International Competition in Shizuoka, Japan. The program has enjoyed much success, demonstrated by the number of schools applying to be involved in the program. This year, 55 German schools applied to be a part of OSOC.
Over the coming months, the students will learn about not only Australia, but also the many skills and trades they will see in action at the competition. The Team Australia Skillaroos will visit Grundschule Dommitzsch on 2nd July, 2013.
