VETiS Cabinetmaking Competition
Cabinetmakers make and repair wooden fixtures and furniture. They work from designs and specifications to measure, cut, join and carve wood and other timber materials with a wide variety of hand and power tools and equipment, including static machinery, to produce objects of both practical and aesthetic value.
The WorldSkills Australia VETiS Cabinetmaking Competition has been designed for Competitors to perform various mechanical and technical skills whilst completing assigned project pieces.
YOU SHOULD PURSUE A CAREER IN CABINETMAKING IF YOU:

- Would like to work on different projects
IT ALL BEGINS AT A REGIONAL COMPETITION
The WorldSkills Australia VETiS Cabinetmaking Competitions begin at a grass roots level in one of 42 Australian regions. The VETiS Cabinetmaking Regional Competitions test the skills and knowledge of 4000+ apprentices, trainees and students, who have the opportunity to win gold, silver and bronze medals and gain the chance to go on to compete at a national level.
WorldSkills Australia competitions operate on a two-year cycle. The next VETiS Cabinetmaking Regional Competition rounds will commence in 2026, and 2027 is the next National Championship year.

The WorldSkills Australia Regional Competition for VETiS Cabinetmaking aligns to the National Training Package MSF Furnishing and the following Units of Competency (Elements of Competency and Performance Criteria) contained in the MSF20522 Certificate II in Furniture Making Pathways Qualification
Regional Tasks
The VETiS Regional Competition will construct a carry-all toolbox that involves several construction elements as well as plan interpretation, drawing and WH&S identification.
The competition is 6 hours in duration
National Competition
Training Package Requirements – National Level
The WorldSkills Australia National Competition for VETiS Cabinetmaking aligns to the National Training Package MSF Furnishing and the following Units of Competency (Elements of Competency and Performance Criteria) contained in the MSF20522 Certificate II in Furniture Making Pathways Qualification
VETiS Cabinetmaking is a new skill in 2026 and is subject to progression guidelines.
