Adelaide to Host WorldSkills Australia 2024 Australian Skills Excellence Forum

Over 100 Skills Champions to take part in workshops to elevate careers to the next level

WorldSkills Australia is proud to partner with the South Australian Government to bring the 2024 Australian Skills Excellence Forum to Adelaide, from the 25th to the 27th of July 2024.

Over 100 young trainees, professionals and apprentices will participate in the three-day event, focussed on upskilling and career growth.

Leading industry experts from 31 skills including Cyber Security, Carpentry, Cookery and Welding will host workshops and hands-on sessions that will teach participants advanced skills that build upon the knowledge gained in their vocational training courses.

In addition, the Forum will also provide professional development skills, including how to manage their own small businesses, personal brand and utilise social and digital media to build their profiles within the industry.

Participants in the Australian Skills Excellence Forum represent some of the best young talent in Australia, with many awarded medals in their respective events in the 2023 WorldSkills Australia National Championships. Others are upcoming stars who are looking to compete at the 2024 Regional Competitions.

These competitions – which attract hundreds of competitors from around the country – and the Australian Skills Excellence Forum are critical in supporting WorldSkills Australia’s mission of facilitating, promoting and growing the nation’s skills excellence.

The Blair Boyer MP, Minister for Education, Training and Skills will address the participants, training leads and key stakeholders at Adelaide Oval. MasterChef alumni and champion of Adelaide’s hospitality industry, Laura Sharrad, will also speak on her skills journey that has seen her become a successful business owner.

The Skills Excellence Forum will take place at several locations across Adelaide, including TAFE SA campuses, Lot Fourteen, BAE Systems, R.M Williams, MTA SA/NT, the Adelaide Training and Employment Centre (ATEC), SAGE’s Skills Lab, Workspace Commercial Furniture, PEER and a number of Heritage Trust sites.

WorldSkills Australia would like to thank the Federal Government, the State Government and South Australian Skills Commission, the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and other skill sector stakeholders for their support of this important initiative.
