Australia’s Top Young Talent to Compete at the Nation’s Biggest Skills Show in Brisbane
Over 600 of the country’s best apprentices, trainees, and skilled professionals will battle it out for gold—and a chance to represent Australia on the world stage.
WorldSkills Australia 2025 National Championships & Skills Show | 12-14 June | Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre
Brisbane is set to host the nation’s most talented apprentices, trainees, and skilled professionals this June, as the WorldSkills Australia 2025 National Championships and Skills Show takes over the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
This high-energy, three-day event (12-14 June) will see over 600 competitors from across Australia go head-to-head across more than 60 skill categories, including cyber security, plumbing, baking, automotive mechanics, and more.
These young professionals have all earned their place at the National Championships through rigorous regional competitions, demonstrating exceptional skill, precision, and passion in their chosen field.
Beyond the thrill of competition, the event serves as a stepping stone to the world stage. The top performers in eligible skills may earn a coveted spot in Team Australia (“The Skillaroos”), set to compete at the 48thWorldSkills Competition in Shanghai in 2026. This global event will bring together around 1,300 competitors from over 60 countries, making it the largest skills showcase in the world.
The 2025 National Championships and Skills Show is free to attend, offering young people and their families the chance to witness elite skills in action, try their hand at new skills and trades at Try’aSkill stands, engage with industry experts and competitors, and explore rewarding career pathways in vocational education.
Co located with the Brisbane Careers and Employment Expo, the event is a must-visit for students, parents, and career seekers looking to explore the vast opportunities within Australia’s vocational education sector.
The 2025 National Championships & Skills Show is proudly supported by TAFE Queensland and the Queensland Government.

Quotes attributable to WorldSkills Australia Chief Executive Officer, Trevor Schwenke:
We’re thrilled to partner with the Queensland Government to bring this world-class showcase of Australia’s top skills talent to Brisbane – one of the country’s premier event destinations.
With this being the largest National Championships in our 44-year history, visitors will witness an incredible skills showdown, cheer on competitors, test their own abilities at interactive exhibits, and meet some of the Skillaroos – Australia’s elite team who competed at Lyon 2024.
As Australia faces a growing demand for skilled workers, this event highlights the exciting and rewarding career opportunities that a vocational education can unlock. Now more than ever, we need to inspire and support the next generation of apprentices and trainees.
Quotes attributable to Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, Ros Bates:
“The Queensland Government and TAFE Queensland are proud to be partnering with WorldSkills Australia to bring the nation’s biggest skills event to Queensland.
Skills in the spotlight include building and construction, creative arts and fashion, information and communication technology, manufacturing and engineering, social and personal services, and transport and logistics. It’s exciting that these highly skilled competitors will go on to create our future workforce in these key industries.
Among the competitors are 121 young Queenslanders from Atherton to Ayr, Dalby to Dakabin – all having demonstrated exceptional skills, precision and passion for their chosen field.
I wish all competitors good luck as they compete for skills gold, a chance to represent Australia on the world stage and state bragging rights – go the Maroons!”
