For Tully Hill, Landscape Gardening is about much more than creating beautiful outdoor spaces. Introduced to the trade through his brother, he quickly discovered a passion for the variety of skills the industry demands and the opportunity to continually challenge himself.
“I realised I wanted to pursue landscape gardening when I got to know the trade and realised the variety of skills required for the trade.”
That drive for improvement led Tully to WorldSkills, where he won the NSW Regional Competition at Ryde TAFE before claiming a Silver Medal at the 2023 National Championships in Melbourne. Every competition has fuelled his determination to become a more skilled and capable tradesperson.
“I’ve enjoyed training for all competitions because I always strive to become more skilled and competent in my trade.”
Being selected for the 2026 Skillaroo Training Squad marked another proud milestone in his journey.
“I felt extremely honoured to represent Australia in a trade like landscape gardening, which I am so passionate about.”
WorldSkills has challenged Tully to step outside the skills he uses every day on the job, teaching him to adapt quickly and perform under pressure. With the support of his employer, Nature’s Vision Landscapes, he’s continued to build both his technical skills and his confidence.
Looking to the future, Tully hopes to own a successful landscaping business while sharing his knowledge with the next generation of tradespeople. Inspired by his brother, who first introduced him to the industry, he is passionate about promoting skills excellence and encouraging others to pursue careers in the trades.
Representing Australia on the international stage is an opportunity he doesn’t take for granted.
“It means the most to me to represent my country, as I am very passionate about my country and my trade.”
