December Update

Another year is fast drawing to a close and I am sure everyone is looking forward to a well earned rest over the Christmas/New Year period. It has been another very busy year for WSA with the 2014 WSA National Competition held in September in Perth being the focus of our activities. Of course, as soon as we closed the doors at the PCEC, the thoughts of everyone involved with WSA turned to the next cycle of competitions – the 2015 regional competitions and the 43rd WorldSkills Competition in Brazil. Plans are well in place for both events and, in particular, we look forward to working closely with everyone to ensure we grow and strengthen our regions – the bedrock of the organisation.

Having had the opportunity to be in Perth for the Nationals, be a part of the 2014 Regional Workshop and, more recently, attend the 2015 Skills Squad training camp has reinforced to me that the greatest asset of WSA is the people. From the regional committee members through to international Training Managers and everyone in between, WSA would not be in a position to deliver our programs without the tremendous and continued efforts of so many. To everyone who has been a part of WSA in 2015, thank you for your valuable contributions. Collectively we continue to raise the profile of and awareness around VET and provide young Australians with the opportunity to strive for and achieve skills excellence.

Merry Christmas to you all and I look forward to working with you all in 2015.
