In Memoriam – Bill Galvin
“Bill Galvin and I started our teaching careers in 1972 with TAFE NSW, he in hospitality and I in electronics, two worlds apart from our then experiences and discipline. We did our teacher training together at Sydney Teachers College. Way back then I recognised that there was a level of certainty Bill wouldn’t be teaching for long but rather be soon leading teachers. He did that and moved on to become Australia’s leader of vocational education and training for the Hospitality Industry.
His leadership throughout the years and delivered through a style and means that was wonderfully unique to Bill, brought industry, government and training organisations together in successful and productive partnerships. Bill’s ever presence in celebrating and recognising excellence in skills through the organisations he lead made him a natural and dedicated supporter of WorldSkills Australia. I personally will miss Bill, a good and great Australian. Well done Bill!” Kevin Harris | Chair WorldSkills Australia
