October Update

On the evening of Sunday 21 September 2014, WorldSkills Australia (WSA) celebrated the achievements of an elite group of young Australians – the competitors of the 2014 WSA National Competition. For the first time in 25 years, WSA returned to Perth to stage what is now a major event and a valuable opportunity to highlight the opportunities that exist via a VET pathway and to showcase Australian skills excellence. The Closing Ceremony, which was live streamed for the first time was a fitting end to a highly successful competition. Congratulations to all medallists – and indeed all competitors – and congratulations to NSW for winning the VETiS Shield and to the Hunter Region for winning the Evatt Shield.

Of course, events like these do not just ‘happen’. They require countless hours of planning and preparation and, once at the venue, even more hours of hard work from many dedicated, passionate and committed people. To everyone involved in staging the 2014 WSA National Competition – thank you.

As you all know, the WSA cycle is a continuous one and we are now looking forward to the next stages – the 2015 Regional Competitions and our International Pathways including the WorldSkills Competition 2015 (WSC2015) to be held next year in Sao Paulo, Brazil. We look forward to your ongoing involvement with WSA as we aim to continue to raise the profile, awareness and status of skills in Australia.
