Skills Village: WorldSkills Australia’s one-stop career shop

Attendees of the 2016 WorldSkills Australia National Competition, Melbourne will now have a unique opportunity to discover the world of career opportunities available through VET at the inaugural Skills Village.

The Skills Village is a one-stop career shop: People of all ages will have the opportunity to speak to training providers and industry-leading organisations about the pathways available to them.

“We felt it was important to give the attendees of the National Competition every opportunity to discover a brilliant career through VET,” says interim CEO Brigitte Collins.  “The Skills Village will give an insight in to the VET sector and provide people of all ages the tools and information they need to discover their best career.”

Included in the list of exhibitors for the Skills Village will be a number of fun, interactive Try’aSkill demonstrations, where attendees will be encouraged to test their hand at a range of basic tasks using different types of techniques and tools required in a large variety of trade and skill-based professions.

“Try’aSkill demonstrations have proven time and time again to be a fun and enlightening addition to our competitions.  What better way to engage young people with the skills they’re witnessing at the National Competition than to let them try it out for themselves?”

Applications are now open to exhibit at WorldSkills Australia’s Skills Village and to host a Try’aSkill activity.  For more information or to register your interest, visit: worldskills.org.au/2016-national-competition/skills-village
