Cloud Computing is the delivery of different services through the Internet. These resources include tools and applications like data storage, servers, databases, networking, and software.

The Cloud Computing WorldSkills Australia Competition showcases a diverse range of technology skills related to the internet for storing and managing data on remote servers and then accessing data via the internet.

IT ALL BEGINS AT A REGIONAL COMPETITION

The WorldSkills Australia Cloud Computing Competitions begin at a grass roots level in one of 42 Australian regions. The Cloud Computing Regional Competitions test the skills and knowledge of 4000+ apprentices, trainees and students, who have the opportunity to win gold, silver and bronze medals and gain the chance to go on to compete at a national level.

WorldSkills Australia competitions operate on a two-year cycle. The next Cloud Computing Regional Competition rounds are now running across the country. 2023 and 2025 are the next National Championship years.

The WorldSkills Australia Cloud Computing Competitions are aligned to the National Information and Communications Technology Training Package.

Regional Competition

Training Package Requirements – Regional Level

The WorldSkills Australia Regional Competition in Cloud Computing is aligned to the Units of Competency contained in the ICT50220 Diploma in Information Technology Qualification (Cloud architect or engineer specialisation).

AWS Academy and AWS Educate are working with WorldSkills to support the Cloud Skill regional and national events for Australia and best preparation would be to complete the AWS Academy Cloud Architecting or AWS Academy Cloud Operations course.

Regional Tasks

The Regional Competition is designed to run virtually throughout Australia. The competition includes a range of tasks whereby Competitors are required to demonstrate well-architected cloud computing principals. The competition project is designed to test the Competitors skills in the following areas related to Cloud Computing:

• VPC
• EC2
• S3
• KMS
• Cloud Watch
• Cloud Trail
• Lambda
• Databases
• IAM
• Cloud Formation

Regionals Competition Duration

The competition is completed in 6 hours over 1 day not including briefing or breaks.

National Competition

Training Package Requirements – National Level

The WorldSkills Australia National Competition in Cloud Computing is aligned to the Units of Competency contained in the ICT50220 Diploma in Information Technology (Cloud architect or engineer specialisation) Qualification.

  • Jam that includes 12 challenges of different complexity

 Nationals Competition Duration

The competition is completed in 18 hours over 3 days not including briefing or breaks.
