Business Services encompass the work that supports a business and enables it to run smoothly. This work typically includes basic procedural, clerical, administrative or operational tasks that require self-management and technology skills.

The VETiS Business Services Competition showcases a diverse range of office administration tasks. Competitors will be required to communicate effectively and demonstrate their competency using the latest version of MS Office.

  • Can work methodically, accurately and neatly
  • Are a good communicator
  • Display initiative and can work with instructions

IT ALL BEGINS AT A REGIONAL COMPETITION

The WorldSkills Australia VETiS Business Services Competitions begin at a grass roots level in one of 42 Australian regions. The VETiS Business Services Regional Competitions test the skills and knowledge of 4000+ apprentices, trainees and students, who have the opportunity to win gold, silver and bronze medals and gain the chance to go on to compete at a national level.

WorldSkills Australia competitions operate on a two-year cycle. The next VETiS Business Services Regional Competition rounds are now running across the country. 2023 and 2025 are the next National Championship years.

Regional Competition

Training Package Requirements – Regional Level

The 2024 WorldSkills Australia Regional Competition for VETiS Business Services aligns to the Units of Competency contained in the BSB20120 Certificate II in Workplace Skills Qualification.

Regional Competition Tasks

The Regional Competition for VETiS includes a range of office administration tasks. Competitors will be required to communicate effectively and demonstrate competency using their IT skills in the latest MS Office version.

  • Literacy skills
  • Word processing skills
  • Spreadsheet skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • Filing skills
  • Numeracy skills

Regionals Competition Duration

The competition time is 6 hours over 1 day not including breaks or briefing.

National Competition

Training Package Requirements – National Level

The 2023 WorldSkills Australia National Competition for VETiS Business Services aligns to the Units of Competency contained in the BSB20120 Certificate II in Workplace Skills Qualification.

National Competition Tasks

The National Competition for VETiS will see Competitors produce accurate, quality documents that meet industry standards.

National Competition Tasks Include:

  • Use business technology
  • Organise and complete daily work activities
  • Process and maintain workplace information
  • Create and use simple spreadsheets
  • Produce simple word-processed documents
  • Handle mail
  • Communicate in the workplace

Nationals Competition Duration

The competition time is 15 hours over 3 days not including breaks or briefing.
