Welcome Reception and Competitor Excursion

Leipzig was alive with colour and excitement today as competitors from over 60 countries gathered in the city centre for the kick-off of the official proceedings of the 42^nd WorldSkills International Competition.

In true competition spirit, over one thousand competitors from across the world began the day by roaring their team chants in an entertaining display of international rivalry. This was followed by a meet and greet where competitors exchanged gifts and introduced themselves to the people they will be competing against throughout the International Competition.

The competitors were then taken on a guided cultural tour of Leipzig where they learnt of the history and the way of life in this stunning German city.

Following the tour, the teams were taken to Leipzig’s entertainment packed theme park, Belantis, where they were able to let their hair down on some adrenaline pumping rides.
