WSA at Floriade

Floriade, also known as Australia’s biggest celebration of spring, is an annual festival that showcases one million flowers in bloom throughout Canberra’s Commonwealth Park.

This year, WorldSkills Australia was invited to be a part of Floriade’s ‘Inspiration Hub’ from the 30th of September to the 7th of October.

The WorldSkills Australia display included an interactive Try’aSkill demonstration featuring Lincoln Electric’s innovative 3D simulated welding machine.

Throughout the week, hundreds of Floriade visitors took up the challenging task of trying to complete a perfect weld, even trying to beat 2011 Sheetmetal Skillaroo, Russell ‘Rusty’ Routlegde’s high score of 98.

This iconic Canberra event, which is now in its 26th year, was also filled with music, cultural celebrations, horticultural workshops, artistic displays, entertainment and recreational activities. Every year the festival runs for 30 days over the months of September and October, with each year welcoming more than 400,000 local, interstate and international visitors.
