ABBTF World Class Bricklaying Development Scholarship
On Tuesday the 25th of March, WorldSkills Australia CEO, Mark Callaghan and Australian Brick and Blocklaying Training Foundation CEO, Geoff Noble, signed an innovative Memorandum of Understanding which aims to strengthen the Australian bricklaying category on the international stage.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will see ABBTF to provide support for the WSA Bricklaying Skillaroo to prepare and train for the 43rd WorldSkills International Competition which will be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil in August 2015. This support will be in the form of a scholarship known as the ‘ABBTF World Class Bricklayer Development Scholarship’.
The goal of the ‘ABBTF World Class Bricklaying Development Scholarship’ is to provide support for the bricklaying Skillaroo, which will allow him or her to achieve the highest possible level of skill to compete successfully against competitors from other countries at the International Competition. The scholarship provides support including; training, mentoring, personal and professional development support, psychological support as well as necessary tools and equipment.
“ABBTF recognize that the WorldSkills International Competition continues to the raise the bar and industry support is vital to give our bricklaying competitor every chance of success for Australia,” says Geoff Noble.
The 2015 Bricklaying Skillaroo to receive the inaugural ‘ABBTF World Class Bricklaying Development Scholarship,’ will be selected from the eligible medallists of the 2014 WorldSkills Australia National Competition being held in Perth between the 18th and 20th of September, 2014.
