Alesandria Tipi is new to both Australian shores and the Beauty industry. She moved to Alice Springs from New Zealand at the start of 2024, enrolling at Charles Darwin University (CDU) TAFE in a Certificate III in Beauty Services and while studying, she’s also been working at Eco Beauty Lounge in Alice Springs, fast-tracking her skills.

“I’m constantly growing as my employer is always giving me opportunities to up skill with treatments, services and information. I also learn from the other beauty therapists. Working in a fast-paced environment has been beneficial for competing in the WorldSkills competitions too.”

She also has strong support from CDU TAFE lecturer and mentor, Ella Adami, who encouraged her to enter the Regional Competition.

Alesandria competed at WorldSkills Regionals after only a short time in the industry, winning Gold. She then went to the National Championships where she received a Certificate of Excellence and, soon after, was selected for the 2026 Skillaroo Training Squad.

“It was unexpected as I’m so early on in my beauty career. It means the world and has shown me – as well as my friends and family – that if you’re interested in something, you should always give it a go.”

Alesandria’s experience has motivated her to pay it forward. “At TAFE, I want to encourage others to participate in WorldSkills, bringing this life changing experience to their world. I hope to inspire others by showing what’s possible with dedication and passion for your chosen industry.”

While focused on her WorldSkills journey, she’s also looking ahead to her future. “I would love to continue to be an ambassador for the beauty industry in the Northern Territory and beyond. I see myself eventually working in a bigger city salon and continuing to build my skills and share my knowledge.”
