Sydney’s Anthony Ters is passionate about cars. So much so that he’s taken his interest to the next level by being selected as a WorldSkills 2019 Skillaroo for his skill in Automobile Technology. Anthony works for Suttons Motor Chullora where his dedication and aptitude for his trade shines through in every machine he treats. After gliding through the WorldSkills Australia regional and national heats, he nabbed a Silver medal at the 2019 WorldSkills Australia Global Skills Challenge in Melbourne. His commitment to his skill and ambassadorship for the competition secured his place in the 2019 Skillaroos team. Anthony is thrilled to travel to Kazan and compete in this year’s international championship. “It makes me proud to represent Australia in the light vehicle mechanical trade. I am proud to motivate future mechanics that if you put your mind to it, anything is possible. Through my journey, I will motivate students that are interested in a trade to give it a go and work through their career to build their knowledge and skills. By representing Australia, I am representing my country with pride and pushing myself to make sure that all the hard work gets paid off. I will represent Australia as a country that does not give up and act as motivation to never give up,” he said.

Expert

John Francis

From early on, Anthony’s WorldSkills Expert, John Francis, saw promise in his mentee. “It’s the light at the end of the tunnel of training. We have been working towards this future goal together and the competition at Kazan is the culmination of all that effort and sacrifice by both competitor and trainers. I have seen growth in Anthony over the year and a bit since we met at training camp. I am keen to see him do his best and hopefully place well on the International stage. It is a great experience for me personally being able to meet and work with my peers from all around the world,” Mr Francis said.
