Antoinette Jackson was about to embark on a psychology degree when a week-long painting experience awakened a latent passion for the craft so profound, it set her on a new career trajectory.
After making the switch to painting and decorating and thriving, Antoinette joined the WorldSkills Australia program and rose to the top of her field. Along that journey, she has been fortunate to receive guidance from seasoned experts, notably her mentor and lecturer, Colin. With a fascinating background that includes painting sets for the Harry Potter series, Colin’s expertise has been instrumental in honing Antoinette’s skills.
Antoinette’s commitment to her new-found craft is further fuelled by the support she receives from her workplace. Her boss, recognising her potential, has invested considerable time in her development. This support system, combined with her innate talent, has set Antoinette on a path to potentially redefine contemporary painting standards.
“After leaving school in year 10 I was ready to start my psychology studies, however, after a week of painting I loved it and decided to pursue it as a career.”
