Brent Butler
Brent%27s natural ability and interest in metal work at school led him to investigate what career options were available within the metal work industry. After extensive research into the variety of trades available, Brent opted for a career in tooling. Brent competed in the Manufacturing Team Challenge event, which is a three member team comprising of Andrew Moore (TAS), Robert Peel (VIC) and Andrew. Brent and his team-mates spent seven months designing and constructing an electric scooter to stringent specifications in their preparation to take on the world at the International Competition. Brent’s attitude in the lead up to Helsinki mirrored that of his team-mates, “… we are determined to be as ready as possible for whatever is thrown at us during the competition.” Dedication and hard work paid off because Brent and his team mates were awarded the Gold Medal in the Manufacturing Team Challenge. Brent attributes his success to the solid support he has received from his family and friends during his involvement with WorldSkills Australia. Brent is a shining example of where determination and drive can take you. He is a proud ambassador for Australia, Nepean Engineering and the vocational education and training system currently operating in this county.
