Jonathan Balfour

After 4 gruelling days of competition, Jonathan and Simon came 4th in the world and received a Medallion of Excellence. Jonathan credits his “…desire to achieve and his ability to work like there is no tomorrow”, as the driving forces behind his success. Jonathan now hopes to work for a couple of different companies to improve his business management strategies and then set up his own business. He is confident that the experiences he has gained through WorldSkills Australia, especially the experience of competing on a global stage, will stand him in good stead in whatever else he chooses to do in life. When asked about the WorldSkills experience, Jonathan says “in a word, FANTASTIC. The most amazing event any tradesperson could ever compete in. Competition has taken my skills to a new level, and personally, the experience has provided an unforgettable lesson in life skills, travel, international pride, leadership and heightened understandings of our place on the world scale of trades. I realise that we are up there with the best and every team member achieved their personal and team goals, demonstrating their commitment and dedication to the tasks”.
